Around the World in over 80 Years

1924 With CHF 1000 start-up capital and one screw-cutting lathe Heinrich Landert and his school friend Rudolf Weber form the company “Landert & Weber, Technical Laboratory”. Rudolf Weber later leaves the company and Landert Motoren AG is formed.
1951 The TORMAX Division starts operations. First production of automatic door drives in Europe. Installation of the first electro-hydraulic swing door drive in Switzerland.
1963 Invention of electro-hydraulic automatic sliding door drives: Landert Motoren sets a new standard.
1975 The subsidiary “TORMAX Danmark“ is formed in Denmark.
1980 Foundation of BECO in Switzerland (becoming TORMAX Mittelland AG) which is part-owned by Landert Motoren AG.

A subsidiary of Landert Motoren AG is formed in Neusäss, Germany and manufactures drives for automatic doors.
1981 For the first time over 10,000 TORMAX door drives are sold in a year.
1983 Acquisition of a majority of the shares of Moens, Heylen & Co. S.A. which is now the subsidiary “TORMAX Belgium”.
The TORMAX TF STAR sliding door drive is launched in the market and is a success due to its extremely compact dimensions.
1984 TORMAX France S.A. is founded in Paris.
1989 The subsidiary TORMAX U.K. Limited is formed in Great Britain.
1991 Introduction of the intelligent TCP processor control system – a revolutionary invention by TORMAX.
1993 Introduction of the TORMAX UNINET door management system with which automatic doors can be easily integrated into building management systems.
1998 The subsidiary “TORMAX Technologies Incorporated” is formed in Texas, USA.
1999 TORMAX acquires a majority shareholding in what is now the subsidiary “TORMAX Sverige”, consolidating its claim to be one of the leading suppliers of automatic doors and door systems in Scandinavia.
2000 Extension of TCP processor technology to revolving door drives.
2003 The TORMAX product range is extended by the intelligent Smart Drive 1101 swing door drive.
2004 The intelligent sliding door drive Win Drive 2201 is launched.
2006 The under-floor swing door drive Power Drive 1401, an invisible under-floor drive, is launched in the market.
2008 Global launch by TORMAX of the new iMotion product generation with which automatic doors can be operated with increased intelligence and ease. iMotion includes all door systems for internal and external use.
Power Drive 1401 is developed further to become iMotion 1401.
2010 TORMAX Schweiz AG merges with TORMAX Mittelland AG and so positions itself more clearly as an effective unit in its home market in Switzerland.
